Revenue By Type
What is the Revenue by Type Report and How is it Used?
The Revenue by Type report shows the repartition of your Revenue by client, between Recurring (MRR) and non-Recurring revenue. It displays both your overall revenue repartition in the graphs, and your repartition by client.
You can use filters to only show your largest clients or hide clients that don’t have Recurring Revenue, and you can sort the clients to see the ones with the most or least Recurring revenue.
The value of the report is to see how predictable (Recurring) your revenue is, how it evolves over time, as well as to identify clients who have low recurring revenue as potential targets for a conversion to a recurring model.
We define Recurring revenue as revenue coming from FFA Labor, Product Subscriptions or Product FFA Additions.
Total Revenue Repartition + Recurring Over Time (Graphs)
The two graphs of this report allow you to see your Revenue Repartition at a glance.
The left side pie chart shows your Recurring Revenue % compared to your Non-Recurring Revenue % for the time span selected in the filters.
On the right side, you have a line chart, showing the evolution of your Recurring Revenue % over the time period selected in the filters. This way you can see potential trends in your revenue repartition.
The Minimum Revenue filter and the “Hide non-recurring clients” option don’t affect the two graphs’ numbers.
Repartition by client (Table)
At the bottom of the report you'll find a table showing the detailed elements of your revenue repartition.
1 Client This is the list of clients who had revenue in the selected time frame. Some clients may be filtered out by the Minimum Revenue and Hide non-recurring clients options.
Clicking a client name takes you to the P&L for this client. This allows you to see what their revenue is made of in detail.
2 & 3 Recurring and Non-Recurring. These are the revenue amounts for a specific client by revenue type.
4 & 5 Recurring % and Non-Recurring % These are the revenue amounts by type as a % of this client’s total revenue. It allows you to identify clients that are mainly Recurring-based and those who are not.
6 Total revenue This is the sum of the Recurring and Non-Recurring columns. It shows you the size of the client, giving you a sense of proportions.
7 At the bottom of the table, you can see the Total/Averages of each column.
Each column can be used to sort the report; by using the arrows in the columns headers.
For example it can be useful to sort by Non-Recurring % in ascending order, to see which clients' revenue are the least recurring and predictive. You can also sort by Total Revenue in descending order, to focus on your main revenue contributors.
Filters
There are simply 3 filters you can use on this report
1 The Date Range filter, which determines the months we will be looking at. You can also pick a pre-selected date range from the Quick Select dropdown.
2 The Minimum Revenue Filter, which hides all clients who have a total revenue lower than the amount selected
3 The Hide non-recurring clients options which hides all clients who have 0 Recurring Revenue
