Member Billing by Month

What is the Member Billing by Month Report and How is it Used?

The Member Billing by Month Report shows each member's billing for a given month both in hours expended and dollar value for those hours. For each member, you can drill down on many of the columns to get a more detailed view of each value listed. The report can be sorted from low to high or high to low on each of the values.

The report gives a clear picture of each member for a given month, how many hours were ticketed for different types of projects and the value assigned for these hours.

Body of Report

The report breaks down the categories of (1) hours ticketed by each member, both invoiced and uninvoiced, billable and unbillable, and the total hours for the member, and (2) the value of those hours. A description of the columns:

Hours (breakdown of member hours for the month):

FFA, FF Ticket, FF Project - Actual billable hours spent working on fixed fee agreements, tickets and projects respectively.

Actual Rates - Actual rate work for T&M or project.  The hours are posted in the month the work is invoiced.

L&S Support - Reflects the time the member spends on supporting licensing and subscription agreements, such as BDR, etc. Note that while there may be hours associated with the agreements, there is no labor revenue assigned as all revenue earned by the agreement is considered product revenue.

Admin, Sales, Internal Tech. - The designation is supplied from your PSA, but MSPCFO fine tunes the type of work into one of these three categories. To review the type of work being done, click Lookup/Work Types. In this table, you are able to further define your internal time. The default for these internal times is admin.

Un-invoiced - Billable, straight time work that has not yet been invoiced. The time appears in as un-invoiced in the month it was done.  It would move to Actual Rates work in the month it is invoiced.  If the work is done in one month and billed in the next, you may see the hours move from one month to another.

Un-billable - Hours where the member's time will not be billed.

Total - Sum of the hours associated with each of the above subcategories.

Value ($)  (breakdown of the source of the member's revenue);

FFA, FF Tickets, FF Projects - Revenue earned for fixed fee agreements, tickets and projects respectively.

Actual Rates - Revenue earned for T&M and project work.

Internal Technical - In MSPCFO, the MSP has the ability to assign a % value. To do this go to Lookup/Options and go to Time Logs/Internal Technical Revenue Credit.  The system defaults to 50%. Credit should be posted to some extent. For a member who does work on internal systems, they need to receive some sort of credit. Otherwise there is no incentive for them to work on the internal systems.

Total - The sum of FFA, FF tickets, FF projects, Actual rates and Internal Tech. It does not include Un-invoiced Labor.

Un-invoiced Labor - The amount of labor that has not been invoiced for the month. This revenue has yet to be billed and is, therefore, not included in the company's total revenue.

A Grand Total is aggregated for all members included in the report for both hours and value ($). This is the last line of the report.

Many of the columns (numbers in blue) can be drilled down for more detailed information by clicking on the number within the box. Listed are the reports that the columns take you to for a specific member:

The report can be sorted by any of the columns. Click on the header in the column you would like to sort the report by. If the arrow in the header is pointing in one direction, the report is sorted by that column. The arrow facing up means the sort is low to high. The arrow facing down means the sort is high to low.
