Market Segments Report
What is the Market Segments Report and How is it Used?
The Market Segments Report allows an MSP to rank their vertical markets. Your PSA classifies your clients into their appropriate markets. Statistics on all clients within that market are aggregated. The markets are separated into five quintiles or segments ranked from lowest (quintile 1) to highest (quintile 5). The statistics for each quintile can then be expanded to see the markets within the segment.
The report allows you to take a close look at your better and worse markets according to certain criteria that you feel are important barometers for your business. Once you identify a company and want more information on the reasons behind the positioning of that company, you can drill down for detailed information by clicking on the market name to get the Client Profit & Loss Report.
Filters
You have a choice of filters:
(1) Threshold - You can change the threshold to filter out smaller clients within a market. The reason for this is that you do not want smaller retail type clients skewing the data. Clients need to have at least the threshold amount of revenue per month times the number of months (in the date range) to be included in the report. For example: If the threshold is set at $1,500 and the report date range is set for 12 months, clients will need at lease $1,500 X 12 months = $18,000 in revenue over the 12 month period to be included in both the Revenue Distribution section and the Stack Rank section of the report.
(2) Only Recurring Labor Revenue Clients - Check the box next to 'Only Recurring Labor Revenue Clients' to report on only those clients within a market that have recurring labor revenue. All other clients will be excluded if this box is checked.
(3) Date Range - The start and end month can be selected by using the 'Quick Set' pull down (specific year or trailing 12 months) or by dragging the start/end date boxes to the desired dates.
If any changes are made to the Filters, do not forget to press 'Filter' at the bottom right of the filter selections to apply those changes.
Note: This report can be downloaded in PDF format or Excel/CSV spreadsheet for use outside of the MSPCFO system. When using the '+' the report is stored in a Download Basket to be downloaded with other reports at a later time (see highlighted area below).
Body of Report
The body of the Market Segments Report is the same as for the Client Segments Report, only ranking markets instead of clients. The same general structure is used in both reports. To see more detail about the body of the report, go to the documentation on the Client Segments Report.
