Health Checks: Wage and Rates
Overview
The Wage and Rates Health Checks deal with labor costs and worktypes.
When the Health Check has an exclamation point in a red circle, it means there are some issues. If the Health Check shows a check in a green circle, then there are no issues for this category. If there are issues, click on the yellow arrow head below to see the line items in question.
Missing Labor Costs on Time Entries
In this table, each line item is a member (engineer/billable employee) who has time records with non-zero worktypes and non-zero admin cost factor, but have no salary for the time period. This may be caused by a new member whose hourly rate has not been added to the system during their starting months.
If the member is new and the wages are being entered in MSPCFO, edit the Wage History Table to incude the new member. Take a look at the dates where these time records occur. If the most recent entry is a current date and the earliest entry is the date the member started, then the current wage history needs to be updated.
Also take a look at the hours accumulated. If they are very small, this person may be in administration, sales, and logged a small amount of time as billable. This time, if not actually billable to a client, can be ignored at your discretion.
Set the Beginning Date (in yellow) so that the dates reflect the current time you are looking at data. Many MSPs do not record salaries back for more than the beginning of the previous year. If you are looking for recent hires that do not have salary, back to the beginning of the year should be adequate.
The report shows:
1. Member
2. The number of time records recorded for this member
3. The total hours logged for this member
4. The first date that the member had time records with no labor cost
5. The most current date the member had time records with no labor cost
Make sure to update the table if the Refresh is not current.
Worktypes With a Labor Cost Multiplier = 0
The table looks for worktypes that are forced to a zero cost. This only applies to wage rates that are not overridden in MSPCFO. MSPCFO does not recommend zero costs. An alternative is excluding the worktype on the Lookup/Work Type Table.
A beginning date can be specified (highlighted in yellow).
The report shows:
1. The Work Type
2. The number of time records recorded for this work type from the given date
3. The earliest date for this work type
4. The most recent date of this work type
Make sure to update the table if the Refresh is not current.
Very high rates
The table shows worktypes where the hourly rate is in excess of $500 per hour. MSPCFO wants to make sure this is not a typographical error when entering the hourly rate in the PSA's rates table.
Make sure to update the table if the Refresh is not current.
High multipliers
The table shows work types with a very high multiplier. MSPCFO wants to make sure this is not a typographical error in your PSA work types table.
Make sure to update the table if the Refresh is not current.
